Audi A4 potential

I have been researching cars for my next car. And I was wondering how much potential a a4 would have. I want a good blend of power and handling. so is there a good aftermarket for these cars?
I would probably be getting a 96 to 98 so I can have some money left over to mod it if I got this car.
thanks

streetfire.net
has some excellent videos and pics of all-out modded audis.

http://www.motodyne.com/index.html

for some ideas,

http://www.goapr.com/Audi/index.html

http://www.audifans.com/
http://www.audiworld.com/index.shtml
and couple other to view and research.
'96/97 would be a good choice, and many newer components from '98-02 will retrofit onto.
I have 2000RS4 HIDs and tunnel ram intake in my '96, and will be doing the carbon fiber hood shortly.

hope this helps,
chris
