02 GA se1 problem. HELP

By the way it has 31,000 miles on it. So, the car was running great as usual. It, was raining like crazy here. I went to start it and it won't start. Thought it was the battery but it wasn't. Had some one look at it he say its the timing belt. What do you guys think? Anyhelp welcome thank you.

Re: 02 GA se1 problem. HELP

Can you tell us what size engine? At 31K miles I doubt very seriously that the timing belt has failed anyway. I would have to believe that there is something in the ignition system that is causing the problem. If you would be a little more specific as to what is going on with the car we can probably help. Does it turn with the starter or does the starter fail to engage? If it turns does it not fire at all or does it act like it wants to start? Be as specific as possible.

Ok, its a 2.2 V4 Automatic. It does want to start but failes to engage nothing happens. I was just saying to myself how well the car was running and the next day this happens.

Have you tried to start it as the car has dried at all?

Re: 02 GA se1 problem. HELP

Just an FYI, the 2.2L inline four cylinder engines in these use a timing chain, not a timing belt. It's highly, enormously unlikely that there is an issue with the t.c.

Re: 02 GA se1 problem. HELP

Well it does use a timing chain. I decided to take it to the dealer service center. The warinty was out. They called me and said there was some kind of short in the ignation and they have to replace it and cut me new keys, reprogram the computer system. $900.......damnnnnnnnnn. I want to thank everyone for helping me. Someone did mention it was the ignation....and all of you did agree it wasn't the timing chain. Now can someone send me $900 lol.

Thanks, again.....

P.S What could have cause this rain?
