Angry Oil-pressure lamp!

HELP!!!

Hi.

I need help, i have a -89 VW Passat CL 1.8GLi, and resently, i noticed that my oil pressure lamp started to flash, and it goes "beep beep" all the time. so i got a tips that is only temporary. To take the wire from the pressure gauge (the white one) and put it to ground. then the problem was gone.

I've heard that it may have something to do with the water pump, but i don't know, so i thought i might try here to see if someone know whats wrong.

With kind regards

Re: Oil-pressure lamp!

It's called a dynamic oil pressure system & is prone to problems with age. There are two sensors, one on the cylinder head & one on the oil filter housing. You can try replacing them (they are different & but look almost identical). Easiest fix is to wire a new light to the senor on the head.
