Electrical Prob?

I've got a 2002 Yukon XL with the flex fuel motor, approx 61,000 miles. I got it used in July 05 and have not had any probs with it.

On Friday going down the hwy. the gauges (tach, speed, fuel, etc) went to 0 and then came back on. The "message center" showed the battery picture and the seat belt light came on (the stuff that displays and flashes when you first start up).

Saturday my wife drove it to work and back and she said it did fine.

Sunday, I start it up and the gauges go to the readings and then drop to 0 and come back and the seat belt light, etc, come back on like I just started it. I proceed down the road and it will not shift. Tried it 4 hours later, and the gauges did the same thing but it shifts smooth as ever.

I'm wanting to lean towards an electrical issue. The alt gauge in the vehicle seems higher than it should. When you roll up the windows, press the brake, etc, you can see the alt gauge dip but never below 12.

When ever the gauges are 0, the engine does not shut off, I do not lose power steering, radio, or anything.

I've searched this forum but did not see anything.

Try cleaning your battery terminals. Also, you may want to have the battery tested.
