99 blazer blowing the 4wd fuse

Ok. I have done a search on this site and found nothing remotely related to this problem so I hope someone can help me. This problem started last winter. When I would drive in 4wd. If I left it in 4wd when I shut the blazer off it would blow the 4wd fuse a couple seconds after I started it again. As long as I put it back into 2wd before shutting it off it was fine. The fuse was fine while driving in 4wd.

Recently the fuse just started blowing regardless of the situation. I took the fuse out & measured the amps at .195A at an idle but jumped well over 10 when accelerating. Any ideas? I would even settle for a wiring schematic. & who's the friggin electrical genius that decided to put the gas gauge, park indicator and 4wd all on the same circuit?

Thank you for any input.

Anyone? I have this same message on two other boards and have yet to get any kind of response. Can someone at least guide me to a free schematic of the electrical system?

Re: 99 blazer blowing the 4wd fuse

I do not know if it will help, but I had a similar problem with my s10 blazer. I searched for everything I could think of and gave up and took it to a dealer. They found that the 4w drive wiring harness runs under the carpet and under the left side of the drivers seat. The wiring harness had worn through becuase of the seat support. They repaired the wires and rerouted the harness and it worked fine after.

Please refrain from replying to threads more than 6 months old, unless the original thread was started by you. The issue has probably long since been solved, and adding to an old thread only brings it back into current forum views to clutter the boards.
