Lightbulb interior 97 sc2

I no this is going to sound very stupid but i just bought this car and the button beside the gear shift is missing .....and i was wondering what that button is for

Welcome to the forum. The button next to the automatic shifter on my car controls the transmission. It adjusts shift points for performance or normal driving.

Thanks , and just another question ....... what does that do to the tranny is there any difference between the two settings or is it just kinda of a show thing .?

in PERF mode main line pressure is increased and the shift points are extended(good for racing, bad for economy)
