US spec 3S-GTE

Anyone know where I can get a U.S. spec 3S-GTE, preferably with all the bits for a turbo swap? I realize the j-spec engines are more powerful and better performers (in most cases anyway), but this is going to be a daily driver and I don't need any unnecessary hassles. Any info would be spiffy.

Different approach

Had a thought, can the JDM motors be retrofitted to pass Calif. smog? Maybe throw on the U.S. manifolds, sensors and use a U.S. ECU? Any ideas people?

Re: US spec 3S-GTE

you live in ca ??

got a blow engine or something, ?? umm maby a junk yard with a mr2 with the front bashed in or something like that ?

but my 2 cents, stick with a usdm engine, mush less hassle

I got someone here in japan offering me a complete mr2 that was in a crash which damaged the front only for 1k? so I guess ya can search around for something like that in CA

Re: US spec 3S-GTE

http://www.paautoracing.com/ sells full clips.

I would not advise getting JDM.
The USDM is better under almost all circumstances IMO.

get a jdm engine use stock wiring and stock comp and u will be very happy.it will run really good and clean. there is a lot of ways to pas emmissions. jdm engine runs clean at 2500 rpm that is the rev that they test the smoke. you can get a jdm engine with trany shipped to your home for 2000 $ its a bargen.but i will take my car and tested in MA for emmissions same as the one in CA and i will get back to you

New question

Anything special I need to know about the turbo swap? Fabrication? Harnesses and connectors match up? Need to change the fuel lines? Pump? Radiator? Fans? Anyone got a swap report? Thanks all.
