Oil Question
Hey guys, I have been changing my oil for a long time but yesterday it was time to change it and I went to the store and there were like so many brands and types of oil.
I needed some 5w-20 for my moms new accord. I have been confused by the different types of oil out there. Can some one give me a good brand and type of oil for an turbo eclipse with more than 100,000 miles. Whats the difference between 5w-20 and 10w-40 ? Thank you

Re: Oil Question
Ok so from what I've read, 5w-20 gets you better gas milege but kills engine life by almost 30%.
So why do Honda reccomend people using 5w-20?? Also Mercedes ( Including the McLaren ) reccomend people to use 5w-50. So What Oil should I use on a turbo eclipse with over 100,000 miles ???

Re: Oil Question
the W in 5w 20 stands for winter or weather (not weight like most people think) the 5 stands for how thick the oil is when the engine is at 32 degrees F. The lower the number, the less thick it is. The 20 is how thick the oil is when the engine is warm. For winter most people put 5w 30 in their cars b/c the oil is thinner when you start up the car, so it makes it start easier.

Re: Oil Question
Doesnt the cap say 10w-30? I would put whatever the owners manual or cap says. Josh did say that Mobil 1 has detergents or something that our engines dont like, but most of the people I know use Mobil 1. Josh recommended Valvoline full synthetic, if I remember right.
