electrical problem
I have a 1995 continental with an electrical problem.
There was a polarity change and it blew the mega fuse and ruined the alternator. They were replaced and the car runs fine. However, what remains is the heating system does not shut off. The control panel which operates the a/c, defrost etc. all seem to operate. But you can't get any variance in the air volume and you can't shut it off. It is always on. The only way to shut it off is to go into the fuse box under the hood and remove a square solenoid from the fuse box. Any ideas on how to proceed and fix it? Thanks |

I'm thinking "Blower Speed Controller" however, I have questions.

Since it's locked on high, you have two options. Fix the old one, or replace it. High only means there no resistance available to 'slow down' the blower. This is due to the main resistor coming un-soldered from it's PC board. If you can resolder it, you're looking at labor only. Check here, on my webpage looking at the links in the righthand column, you'll see two PDF's (part A, part B) on this re-solder process. This also gives you a good idea what to replace if you should decide to go that route instead. I believe the Speed Controller is about $120 USA. My webpage is 1996, Town Car only however, I have the 1996 Service CD that covers Conti as well if your interested in Conti specific references.
