Exclamation 95 Pathfinder auto trans gets stuck in 3rd

My 95 Pathfinder auto trans will sometime get stuck in 3rd & not shift up or down. After I turn it off & let it sit awhile, it works fine again. This happens a couple time a week now. Any thoughts?

This will usually happen when you overrev your truck. It's called a limp mode or something of the sort. I had it happen to me a couple of times when I had my truck in 4Lo, probably because of the low gearing. If it's doing this without high revs or having your truck in 4 Lo, it could be a computer problem. You can try reseting your computer by dissconnecting your battery post and hitting your brake pedal for a few seconds.

Thanks for the quick reply but it didn't fix it. Is there some kind of solenoid that goes bad?

Not that I'm aware of. You can ask at http://npora.ipbhost.com/

I'm a member on this board, it's a Nissan Pathfinder site. I find people to be very helpfull and quick with replies on this site. You can do a search and if you don't come up with an answer they should answer by posting your question.
