Changing Starter on 88 Mustang

I have an 88 Mustang GT manual trans that needs a new starter, but I am having trouble removing the starter. The catalytic converter and the header are in the way...do I have to remove one or the other or both to get to the starter, or is there a way to get around them in order to get the starter off. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Jim

Re: Changing Starter on 88 Mustang

I have always found that using a few long extensions with a universial joint, snaking it in from the engine bay between the headers tubes works well at removing and replacing the top bolt. The bottom bolt you should have no trouble getting a wrench on.
