can anyone help ?!?!

i hang out in other threads as tubjub, but i'm on a friends computer so i use his name...

88 ford f150 ... 5-speed, 302, 2wd, dual tanks

problems....

truck has straight duals off of each manifold.... no oxygen sensor.

you start the truck up from sitting overnight, take off down the driveway, runs fine. no problems. no check engine light.

but once it warms up at all the problems start.

it begins to hesitate badly, acts like it runs on like 3 or 4 cylinders with NO power... not even enough to move it in 1st gear.

then another problem starts.

its got 15w40 in the motor ... and its full, but once it warms up enough to flow the oil real good the oil pressure drops and drops and drops... like dead buried in the L at 1000 rpm or so... then the check engine light comes on... and all the time the motor is running horribly.... bad oil pump ?

wtf is going on with this thing ?!?! are there any resident experts in here because its not worth taking to a mechanic, it won't even make it there.

plz help

jake

Re: can anyone help ?!?!

It may be time to take it out in the back yard and bury it.
With no oil pressure it is not going to live long.
Has the oil got gas in it or is it deluted from not running right or rich. With no 02 sensor on it it the engine will not run right.
Check the condition of the oil and put a manual gauge on it and see how good the oil pressure is.
And go from there.

Re: can anyone help ?!?!

but why is the oil pressure perfectly fine until it warms up... along with the engine's overall running condition. once it starts to get warm its all downhill from there.

Re: can anyone help ?!?!

Give us some info on the condition of the oil and the condition of the engine.
What is the mileage on engine?
What are the oil pressure readings on a manual gauge. gauge? With eng cold warm and hot?

Re: can anyone help ?!?!

Any kind of manual gauge that reads true oil pressure will work.
In a pimch you can even use a gauge off a old air cond recharge gauge set.
The hotter oil gets the thinner it gets.
Many things can drop oil pressure.
Cam or rod or main bearings or bad oil pump or oil pump screen stopped up.

Re: can anyone help ?!?!

i had a bronco2 that had the same problem i changed the cam and bearings did you get the motor wet cause that is what i did to it 4wheeling in mud and water over the hood pull the cam and if there is marks on the bearings replace the cam and bearings you will need a specal tool to take out the bearings you might be able to rent it at a parts store
