ignition switch fuse keeps blowng

my 94 e36 developed a problem today. car wouldnt start when warm, so i checked fuses and the instrument cluster fuse was blown. replaced it, the car started fine a number of times. drove fine to my house, went to leave a few hours later and the fuse blew again. ive had the car just about a year and this is thee first trouble ive had with ignition. could it be the ignition switch itself? ive read a few posts on switch problems, and they dont pinpoint my problem. any help is greatly appreciated, thanks
