first car!

Ya, i wunder if i'll get banned 4 this... owell. I am about 2 turn 16 so i need a ride. I've saved up $6,000 from refing, (babysitting?) little kid hockey games, working at a restruant, and counciling at some summer camps. (wasn't easy). So now i'm looking 4 a sport compact because of the extensive aftermarket and the speed. I'm looking 4 speed, I don't really mind looks but i will be doing mod's to the car, so look 4 me in other forums asking around. anyways, i'm budgeting myself 2 $3,500 to pay 4 any repairs or mod's (hopefully). my parent's will pay 4 the insurance so that won't be problem . So now down 2 the car. I have been looking at the 89'-91' RX-7's for their speed and relative reliabilty (except maybe 4 the engines tendency 2 blow up). another has been the volkswagen scirocco and GTI w/ the 16V engine. not to powerful or reliable but a lot more room (to haul around humungous hockey bag). I've also looked into eagle talon TSi awd models, but not 2 extensively. i'm open to suggestions from others 2, but i will not get a honda or acura. i jus' think to many people have them, just a problem i have. i'll prolly be posting this same writing bit in some more forums, as i don't know were exactly 2 post. (hope im not a post-whore now ) so wa, thanx in advance - Tommy

Older Ford Mustang 5.0
It nicely fits all your criteria and has huge mod potential.
Go for a hatchback, the rear seats fold down with plenty of room for even a goalie's bag.

Agreed. Get a Mustang LX 5.0 though, they are a few hundred pounds lighter than a GT. My friend just bought a '92 Mustang LX 5.0 and its worked to hell, very fast.
