Toying with V8's

well i had a fun day today. Also just to let everyone here know, its cold in michigan today, low of 40 somethings today. And anyone with a Roots blower will back me up when i say on a cold night, a roots supercharged car is a totally new car. With that said, on to the races.

My first race was in the afternoon. I had just picked up my GF and when on my way home i saw a nice 03 Orange Cobra in front of me. I quickly got behind it at the light waiting for it to change. Light changed, i got over next to him. I did a quick little gas speed off to get his attention, it did. He pulls up next to me at around 40 MPH. Me being the "slower" car, i punch it first he quickly follows. I hear my supercharged 4 cylinder screaming in the cold wheather. I had anticipated a beating but to my suprise i didnt recieve that. We went till about 80 MPH, he was ahead by about a car length. I looked over as he was looking at my cavalier trying to figure out wtf i had, after a few seconds i could see him chuckling still looking at my car. My turn came up and that was it.

Next race, dropped my GF off at her house and was on my way home, now its cold out now. Like gimmie a jacket and hat cold. I see this nice black Z28 pull out in front of a light im stopped at. So i just about piss my pants waiting for the light to change, finally it does and im off to catch the Z28. Well i get up behind it and what do i see, the Z28 has multiplied, now there is 2 of them, but one looks old enough to be a LT1. I see the LS1 egg on the LT1 for a race, but no go. Darn that would have been fun to watch.

So i go around them and try and get the LS1's attention. Nope didnt really work. So i drive on, i get to a light, and what do you know the Z28 is right next to me. Both of us have dark tinted windows, so i cant see him, and he cant see me. Light turns green, we both take off normally, i pace him just a little bit ahead. Slowly were are accelerating more and more, finally at about 40MPH when his front bumper is at my door, i see his front end lift up, so i lift mine up. Boom instant boost, the supercharger is whining so hard i thought it was gonna break. I look over and the Z28 isnt gaining on me. Im watching the whole time, his front bumper isnt gaining an inch on me. I can hear that LS1 giving it all it has, but he cant gain. I shut down at 80MPH with the same lead the whole time.

Im sure had both of these races gone past 80MPH i would have been walked on, but they didnt, so i wasnt. Bench race me and DIE!

Jayson, don't think we're picking on you. But seriously... '03 Cobra.

Those trounce on stock to mildly modified LS1's with out much effort... then you say you held with one till 80?

Think about it bro...

Maybe he was toying with you?? Testing the waters?...

Yep, not buying the cobra story. The ls1 is hard to believe too, what do you trap in the 1/4?

93mph isn't too bad, but hell my LS1 traps 105... and it's close to stock.

Is this an old thread from April Fools Day???? If it's not, man, there are some seriously sorry ass drivers out there w/ fast cars. Your car runs what, mid to high 14's. Even a bad LS1 owner can bust out a mid to low 14 sec. time. A Cobra owner would reap the same benefits as you, as his car is s/c'ed too. Especially from a roll, unless the dude was playing with you. Maybe the LS1 guy had a bad launch, but he'd be gaining on you like a madman. Dunno man, wasn't there.

I don't see any of those cars having trouble against you. They trap about 15 and more mph, you shouldn't stand a chance.

ok i said dont bench race me, yeah all those other cars trap alot higher, GOOD THING WE DIDNT RACE TO THOSE SPEEDS! I know everyone of those cars would have stomped me if went higher than 80 MPHs. Ive said time and time again, the reason my trap is so slow for my ET is because of 3rd gear, its long and slow, and it kicks in at 80 MPH under WOT. I mean seriously, are you guys blind? Look at my quater mile, 14.7@93MPH, most stock 5 speed cavaliers trap 90-92 MPH stock, but run 15.8. IF you guys are that blind to see the low end speed of my car im not gonna bother posting here anymore, cause its a waste of time.

None of you have ever seen a review, been in a car like mine, or prolly even seen a car like mine.

Type S when are you going to be in michigan? Cause were running, i want atleast on person on here to be able to understand my car.

I could see you possibly hanging with an LS1 car to those speeds, but not the Cobra.

Either way, not calling BS on you...but I do believe the Cobra was kinda pacing you. Those things are just evil across the powerband.

I've seen plenty of newbs come in here in the past, make claims like this and people run them off, including yourself. Why? Because they didn't have proof. So where's the video proof? Since were not allowed to bench race. Funny how we expect others to come in here and EARN our respect without proof, but some here think they can get away with it.

Now i'm not doubting your car, i'm sure it can run a 14.7 at whatever mph, it MIGHT be able to hang with those cars, but unless i see it, i have a hard time believing it, i'm more of a see it to believe it kind of guy.

bench racing is when you go my 220hp car will beat your 210hp car cos it's got 10hp more.

When you're talking about a cobra and a supercharged cavalier...well you know.

You're right, no one was there...but I have to say, I mess around with cars obviously slower than mine at 1/4 throttle all the time. I have to say, that Cobra was just messin - either bad driver, or....just messin.
