93Taurus fuel...pump not working.

...Taurus fuel...pump not working.
I checked the wires , inertia switch ,there is continuity.
Two days ago in the Ford Forum found a question with the same problem.
answer from a pro : probably faulty fuel pump relay in the Constant Control Relay Module ....located above the radiator.
So I hit the black box a few times and turned the ignition on ......pump was humming and engine was running.

Today I purchased a new Module put it in and the car is running……
Took it for a test drive and the needle (temp.gauge) goes a bit higher than before and a bit down again ….up and down, not overheating , coolant level is ok.
30 min.later checked the car again ,needle was still up and when I turned the ignition on it went further down.
Something wrong ? does somebody have a answer for that ?

Thanks
Mick

Did you buy the whole new Constant Control Relay Module? If so, then from where and how much did it cost?

I have the same problem with my 1993 Taurus - fuel pump failing to come on.

Nah, i don't think anything is wrong. Mine sometimes jumps up and down too for a while, and then it is back to normal.

Engine warms up, guage goes up, thermostat opens, cool water from the radiator goes into the motor, guage goes down, thermostat closes, then engine warms up starting the cycle over again.

Thanx for your reply. At the moment i'm not rushing to buy a new one just yet because whenever i do not hear my fuel pump coming on, i just open up the hood and hit that CCRM box a few times. And so far it has done the trick. And should that fail too someday, then i will buy a new CCRM. I don't think i should take my car in for diacnostics and pay 99$ for it, because i think it is clear that in my case it's the CCRM that is going bad.

But micib31, did your fuel pump, before installing a new CCRM, fail to come on at all, or did it sometimes come on too like mine?
Thanx

Re: 93Taurus fuel...pump not working.

Well, i also bought a new CCRM and installed it. For couple of days the fuel pump turned on every time i started the engine. But today, while driving, the engine suddenly stopped. I pulled over to a parking lot and tried to start the car, but the engine wouldn't start. What helped me to start the engine was to detach the power wire to the CCRM for a second. After i did that the fuel pump turned on and the car started again.
I mean, whatta hell is that? While driving it already dies on me. How can it do that? Obviously the problem is not in CCRM box, cuz i just bought a new one.
Does that relay for the fuel pump inside that CCRM box control the fuel pump constantly?
Or maybe it's the fuel pump that needs replacing?
If anyone has any ideas then please help.
Thank you

I have a 93 Taurus wagon with similar problems. Stalls while driving - sometimes at a steady 55 mph. Used to restart consistently but has gotten worse. No voltage from CCRM to inertia switch. Rapping on the CCRM doesn't seem to affect whether the pump will come back on or not. I'm wondering if the PCM (computer) is missing an input to keep the pump running. My mechanic thinks it might be from the ignition module (but we have tested and have spark even when the pump won't run). I have heard mention of interlock with a crankshaft sensor. Does anyone have info on the PCM logic/sequence for the fuel pump and how to test it?
