1992 Olds 88 Royale doesn't shift into gears correctly
Transmission has been flushed already, but car is having a hard time finding reverse or drive...I seem to have to shut off the vehicle and restart maybe 1-3 times in order to get the vehicle into gear....any suggestions?

Re: 1992 Olds 88 Royale doesn't shift into gears correctly
It seems to do nothing...like it feels like it doesn't engage...like it slides to reverse or drive...after i restart it then it feels like it engages...weird!!
I put the brake on like I am supposed to, but it just doesn't click into gears until after i restart one, two or three times....doesn't sound normal! |

Re: Re: 1992 Olds 88 Royale doesn't shift into gears correctly
Oh, this happened after the transmission flush...it was a little dark when changed....i decided to get the flush because i would be stopped to turn and my car didn't want to really go...like it was pausing to think and then it would go after a couple seconds of my foot on the accelerator...that is when i got the the flush...after the flush...i have been having problems with shifting into gears...maybe the transmission is shot?????

Having an old transmission flushed is the worst thing you can do to it, other than pouring in some sand.
You may also want to check the transmission's connector to the ECU (if a 4t60e, doesn't apply to a 4t60). When these corrode your car will start off in 2nd gear. Though if it's actually 'slipping' you need another trans. |
