power antenna

I have a 1991 Town Car that I replaced the power antenna with an after market one. The new one has 2 wires - a red one and a blue one. The wiring harness for the old antenna has 6 or 8 wires to it. Any ideas on how to wire this. Also, I have found the code for the door on the trunk hinge but it is not working. Is there a way to test the power to the keypad on the door? Thanks.

For the keypad test, try pressing buttons 7/8 9/0 simutaneously.
Make sure your keys are in your hand, not in the car.

The 7/8 9/0 combination should lock all the doors if the keypad is working.

If the keypad is not working, is there a fuse to check or any easy checks?

Check fuse number 17 - it's a 10 Amp fuse. It also is on the same circuit as the power mirrors, memory seats, courtesy lights, door locks, warning lamps and the ATC Module. If all the rest is working then it's not the fuse.

To check and see if there is power to the keypad, you'll need to take off the door panel and reach up into the farthest left hand upper corner of the door and feel for the wiring harness. I'm betting your keypad went south. You can usually find them in the salvage yards ( you can only use the ones from a 1991 - 1994 Town Car as the harness connectors and wiring has changed in later model years. I had mine go bad and was lucky enough to find one on ebay. It's just plug and play ... your hard code (the one on the hinge) is the permanent code. The Owner's Manual tells you how to put in your own code. Good luck.

Thanks for the info on the keypad, yes I believe the keypad is dead. It doesn't light up when pressed or anything, so I will be looking for one on ebay or the salvage yards. Thanks again. Does anyone have any ideas about the power antenna? The actual antenna wire is connected, so I have radio signal but I can not figure out how to connect the power to it so that it goes up and down to get a better signal.

While you're on ebay looking for the keypad, also look for either an EVTM Manual or Repair CD for your particular year Town Car. You might want to pick up a Haynes Repair Manual at your local auto parts store until you get a "good" one.

Hello

Do you have a voltage meter? You could check the wires on the ant. harness and see witch one becomes hot when the radio is turned on, and which one is ground on the continuity setting.
