DPFE sensor?
I've seen DPFE discussed quite a bit in several post dealing with a check engine light. What is the DPFE and where is it located on an `01 Windstar?

Re: DPFE sensor?
The PDFE is an Alluminium or black plastic box the sits connected to the front of the intake manifold above the valve cover. It is about 3 1/2 " x 2". It is held on with 2 bolts. It has a 3 wire harness and two hoses that route to the EGR tube.
Before playing any hit and miss you really should have your codes read to ensure that the DPFE and/or EGR system is actually flagging the fault. |

I thought that's where it should be but it isn't. The mounting holes are there but there's no sensor. There is however a much smaller sensor (1"x1.25"x .375") connected by two tubes to the EGR pipe. Would that be it?

Re: DPFE sensor?
That seems too small but perhaps the 01s are smaller than what I have seen. Here is a link that shows it in one or more of the photos:

Re: DPFE sensor?
On my '01, it's as the OP described. It just sits on top of two little hoses in the EGR tube, and one electrical connector. Took all of 30 seconds to replace. Keep in mind the hoses are two different sizes.
