94 Suburban electrical system dead

I turned on my strret yesterday and pushed the radio power button to turn it off and the entire car died all power is off and will not come back on. I had AAA jump it and it wouldn't even light up the under hood light. Does anyone have any ideas what this could be or where to look? I donot have $$ to go to dealer. I put battery on charge but that idn't the problem because if it was the battery then the charger would have at least lit up the under hood light?
