h22 alternetor problem

simply put, my alternator keeps failing after a day or two. i've replaced three with no success.the only thing i did before all this crap started happening was put a stereo and take out the thermostat. the battery is new so i don't know what else the problem could be. also, i have a header that barely rubs with the alternetor but i had no problem with the original when i put it on. it's the first time this has happened to me and i've reached a wall i can't climb. any help would be much appreciated.

Re: h22 alternetor problem

you could be shorting it out. Check your wire harnesses

Re: h22 alternetor problem

i got a fourth alternator, this time new, and the freaking battery light came on again after a day or two while i was on the freeway. the wierd thing is the light turned off when i exited. i did some troubleshooting by unplugging the harness that goes to the alternator, and checked voltage to the wires. i narrowed it down to what could be the ELD(electric load detector) due to the fact that one of the wires had no voltage. i have a 91 accord with an h22 swap. also, my idle is higher and erratic at times and heard that the ELD could also be the cause of that. everytime i adjust the idle it goes back up in about a week.fuses are good and as far as wiring i haven't seen anything unusual. what do you guys think? could it be the ELD and if so, where is i located?thanks for your input.

Hey I have the same prob. My batt. wont charge n my sppedo dont work. This happens on n off, If my speedo works my batt's gettin charged. But I've narrowed it down the the ELD to, prob is that if that the prob. You have to replace the whole Fuse box in the engine compartment. The ELD is located under the fuse box.
