oh the mileage
so what's everyone spending on gas these days?
I'm in KALIFONIA and i spend about 60$ a month on gas ('00 EX) I find that the higher gas prices go, the more i enjoy going to the gas station: its great to look at how much the guy before you spent and see $100+ I hope gas spikes again, It's great to see the SUV nation panic and line up their Expeditions and Chargers and Camaros because they all know that their tank wont last them the rest of the week. Granted: they make huge tanks in these things to compensate for low mileage, but when you commute in L.A., it doesn't matter. Yeah, this is just as bad as them laughing at me because my car has no power, I just figured it was our turn to point and laugh for a little bit. |

Re: oh the mileage
My honda gets mid low 20s on 94 my jeep gets high teens 17-19 on 87. Its cheaper to drive my truck in the city.
Laugh all you want but i have the low end needed to pull your house if you want to move. My honda also is well not stock ![]() I'm gald your happy about saving money I ride my bike if i want to save lil bit 60s MPG range. But dont laugh at others who want to or need to drive larger things. |

its all in good fun, and yeah I feel pretty bad for the hard working guys that need to own trucks because of their jobs (contractors, etc), but if you commute in the LA area, I don't think there's any good reason to own anything with a V8, so I'm just gettin a few laughs in while I can.
i also agree that bikes are the way to go, i've been looking to get a small 250 just to commute, and to be able to make a project of my civic |

Re: oh the mileage
$60 a month doesn't really tell us what your gas mileage is..unless every car in the world drives the exact same distance over the exact same period AND the gas costs the same everywhere
![]() Mine (98 lx manual) gets 36-38 mpg combined city + highway. I drive my car very "gently" though. I still have the original clutch after 185k miles and hopefully it will last a while longer. I love my Honda, but sometimes I miss my old SUV just because it was handy to have around when I wanted to transport large items. Every vehicle has its pros and cons. As for wishing for higher gas prices - no comment!! |

Re: oh the mileage
I have a company truck with gas, and I honestly have not bought gas for myself in at least 2 months. My Civic is still in Massachusetts, I have moved to Richmond Virginia...I want to Drive my Civic.
