quieting a monster
Hey, it's me again with another tuning question for my 72 dime.
I recently switched from a weber 32/36 DGAV to dual dell'orto 40 DHLA's, and the difference is night and day. Before my car was underpowered, but streetable. Now, it is a full-on racecar that is too loud for street use. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the new power, but I need to quiet it down to drive it on the street. My question is, does anyone know of a muffler set-up that I can fit under my 510 that will quiet it down (without losing flow and performance)? Right now I am using a cheap HOT (high output turbo) muffler and 2.25 inch pipe from the collector back. Great flow and sound, but far too loud to drive off-track. Any suggestions are appreciated, part numbers would be awesome! Thanks in advance. |

Sorry, I read these threads, but I've been busy with the paint on my car. on my car, I'v got 2" pipe and a Magnaflow, I've fired it up a couple times, and I think its gonna be at least somwhat reasonable, but with your dual carbs, it might be the equvalent of what you've got now, so I guess, I'm no help, but I'd try looking into FlowMasters, cause they will take a very loud V8 and make it reasonable, they would restrict more that a straight through of course, but they might make your car suitable for on road driving, you'd wanna to talk to some people that actually know what they're talking about though.
