Sorry guys for resurrecting another old thread but I'm having the same problem as the guy who started the thread. What is this guy talking about that he replaced?

Whenever I turn my wheel left or right doesn't matter when I'm putting on the brake or not, this squeeking groaning (not like power steering) occurs and it is really embarassing. Also whenever I push up and down on the strut it does a similar sound but I don't think that the problem I am having is the strut, it sounds more serious.

Please help will be greatly appreciated.

Re: noise over bumps

Check everything in the front end, have a listen to it while someone else turns the wheel. Grease everything that has a fitting on it.

Re: noise over bumps

Mine used to make a popping noise. I found 2 bolts loose that hold the whole subframe to the rest of the car. Tightended them up and the noise was gone.

Re: noise over bumps

Two years ago on our '88, I found a broken spring--a hairline crack. The springs on these cars sit in place with a crescent type shape due to the suspension design. I'm sure its the same on a 90s. I believe they are prone to breaking due to the side pressures on them. A definite possiblility for noise. Check the springs--13 year old car puts the springs in old age at this point.
