car hesitating during acceleration

I have following 2 issues with the car (may be related)
1) When cold start, it does not move for 5 sec even if i press the accelerator and then move with hesitating for 5-10 sec and then go in full blow. So now i wait for 1 min so that it warm ups before accelerating. Is this normal or something is wrong in the car?
2) When in heavy traffic and driving for 5-6 miles at less than 20mps, when suddenly wants to accelerate i hear loud noise from front, looks like car trying to run without changing to high gears.
What can be the possible issue or this is normal?

Thanks

Many hesisitation problems can be caused by a clogged fuel filter.

Not normal, get corrected before towing is the only chance.

I suspect A/T is slipping. 1. Check out oil level, read u manual. 2. Get all oil changed: A/T Oil mfg warrants only 20-30k for std tranny oil.

Typically nobody tells. Thks for nothin...

TPS Throttle Position Sensor is used as input only on cold engine; on tranny TPS input is used always. If bad, symptoms fit.
Clean and/or change, about 100$.
