Two Things

First I have been seeing the postings on the "Low Coolant" lamp on my dashboard. And although I think I know how where to look to see the sensor I'm not sure if the thing that I was about to take off was the thing that I was supposed to be taking off. So if anyone has a picture of what exactly I am supposed to be taking off and cleaning please post a pic. It doesn't have to be off just a picture of what it will look like hooked up to my radiator.

The next thing is that I have owned my car since 2002 it is a 2001 Grand Prix SE. I see a lot of posts by people saying that you should change your air filter to get good performance and gas mileage. I have never changed mine, in all the time that I have owned my car. Is this something that I should do as soon as I get the chance? What's the best, if there is a best, filter to get?

Re: Two Things

Don't have a pic of the coolant level module but you can't miss it. It's on the passenger side of the radiator about 3 inches below the radiator filler neck. It will be a square component (gray) about 2" X 2" with an electrical connector.

On the air filter depending on your environment, it should be changed out every 3K miles in sync with an oil & filter change. Especially if you live in a dusty environment.

For stock a Fram air filter works good and is economical.

Re: Two Things

In my opinion, unless you live in Dust Bowl, OK; every 10k-12k is the recommended change interval on an air filter.

Hey Rich, I live in a dust bowl (desert).

You should see my annual expenditure on air filters for 5 vehicles including the Honda CR.

Re: Two Things

hmm, maybe if you have to dodge tumbleweeds while driving, then you need to change them more often(I hear they're abrasive). Bob, that bill would probably give me nightmares.

lol. It gives me nightmares.

On tumbleweeds, I hate those things. It's like they are alive.

BTW - The auto parts stores do very well here. We have 17 Autozones alone in this jerkwater city (El Paso) not to mention all the Checker Autos. Population 700,000 and 1.5 million in adjoining Juarez, Mexico.

Re: Two Things

Up here in Michigan, winter salt, potholes the size of Rhode Island, and retarded drivers are our road hazards. It should be a law that your cell phone number be tied into your licence plate number so you can call the moron in front of you to tell him the light changed and he can proceed so the other idiot behind you doesn't plow both of you into the next county.
