Record companies complaining about satellite radio now
http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20051005/...a_satellite_dc
From the article: "The record industry, led by major labels, such as Vivendi Universal',> Warner Music Group Corp, EMI Group Plc and Sony BMG, believe the recording capability is a clear copyright violation and could take revenue away from paid download music services." These, of course, are the same paid download music services that the record companies were complaining about a week or two ago (in particular iTunes) because the record companies want to be able to institute variable rates for songs instead of the flat 99 cents iTunes charges (which is STILL too pricey, I think -- in the end you end up with a CDr and no packaging for just about the same cost as a retail album.) Obviously the dinosaurs known as "the recording industry" are afraid -- afraid for their profit margin, afraid for their distribution policies, and afraid that the future for their continued ability to charge $16 for a lousy plastic disc and cheap-ass packaging is in jeopardy. and I say screw 'em Everyone knows the best stuff comes from unsigned artists working from home, or the truly talented professional artists able to prosper on smaller, independent labels.

Re: Record companies complaining about satellite radio now
"Dinosaur" is an apt descriptor for the recording industry. They need to adapt and adjust to the times, or die.
