1996 Suburban wont start

96 Suburban wont start, took to Autozone reader indicated low voltage readings on both Oxygen sensors, tech said that sounds like electrical problems. I began to experince problems when stepping on accelerator felt like it was starving for fuel and would not downshift. Today went to start it would not start,Depressed fuel pressure valve and fuel dribbled out, could not get fuel pump to come on with key or using bypass line in engine compatment, replaced the fuel pump, tested old pump and it worked outside of tank, Now new fuel pump activates with key but still no running engine, tested crank sensor, and replaced the sensor thinking that this could be the problem did not change things, also looked at the oil pressure sensor, jumped the connection but no change. Poured some fuel down and got the it to start but died when it used that up. I dont know if there is a fuel pressure problem or a computer failure, I have power to both computer fuses showing 11.87 volts . I dont know if the fuel or pules to injectors can be interrupted by other devices or sensors

Re: 1996 Suburban wont start

11 volts is to low
check and charge the battery.
whats the fuel pressure reading with key on engine off??
replacing 02 sensors for a no start is a waist of money
do the injectors spray fuel while cranking???

Fuel filter, battery terminal connections(especially between the stacked positive cables), Cap and Rotor. The cap and rotor tend to burn their center electrodes out with no warning. Good Luck - Chris

Re: 1996 Suburban wont start

You really need to check fuel pressure at the injector rail. With the key on and the engine off (sorry about that) the pressure should be around 55-60 psi. Keep in mind that the pump will only run for a couple of seconds without the engine running so you may have to cycle the key several times to get a reading. You've replaced a lot of stuff but I don't see a mention of the fuel filter?? Another possibility is a theft deterrent system??---------Steve
