starting problems

i have been havign a problem starting the car for a while no. it is on and off. bacially cranks the engine for a few seconde befor starting. but it got worse. in the last week , it happend twice that the car didn't start at all. it would keep turning over and over. so i waited a bit and it acctually managed to start and died right after.(to me it seamed like a gas problem) but then i kinda smelled some gas.so i guess it was flooded? after waiting for about 10 min it started up. pretty much most of the spark related parts are pretty new and so is the fuel filter. anyone had a similar problem?
thanks

Re: starting problems

oh and the idel is also weird. it isn't steady. could be running smooth at arounf 800 then drop a coupple hundred rpm and shoot back up to 1000-1100. i am assuming it is related.

Re: starting problems

when car is not starting, you ACTUALLY checked for fuel and spark?

Re: starting problems

My accord has the same starting problem. My problem is to much fuel. I have 1 or more stuck open injectors. Does your car bog in the bottom end? Also has your fuel mileage got anyworse.

Re: starting problems

when cel comes on, pull it.

when car is having trouble starting, thats a good time to check for fuel and spark.
