Re: Can't afford GS or GS-R insurance :(

suggestion: be happy lol. I'm 19, have around 2 years of driving experience, no tickets, no collisions (all thanks to God), nothing. Perfectly clean record. On my 2000 GS, I pay $535 canadian/month!!!! This is solely under my name as for some weird reason I can't add a 3rd car under my parent's current insurance plan.

Re: Can't afford GS or GS-R insurance :(

I pay about $1000 a year total for my car. I'm 21, male, live in North Carolina, US and it is my own seperate policy.... I only have 4 years of driving experience. One ticket, but it doesn't show up on insurance points.

damn 240 a month sounds really high. When I was 16 I was gonna buy a used cobra mustang and insurance quoted me about 259 a month so 240 for someone who is 20 for a much less sporty car seems crazy.

Now I'm 23 and I pay about 100 bucks a month for my gs-r (of course its a little older though)

actually just thought about it is the 240 just for liability or does that include collision and all that stuff? Because all my numbers were for liability only.

Re: Can't afford GS or GS-R insurance :(

I'm sorry I didn't clarify. 240 for full coverage..

But the thing is the 130/mo with my Camaro is 130 with full coverage.... But they are both the same sports-car-coupe class.. WTF??? stupid BS

So yeah I can't afford one now thats wayy to expensive for someone who lives off of pennys found in the sofa. (not really but i live in SoCal alone so thats a grip of $$)

My insurance really sucks too. $404/m Canadian for a '92 RS WITH OUT collision and I'm 19 with over 3 years driving experience and nothing more then one minor speeding ticket.

Just out of curiousity, what year is the Camaro?
Civics are nice cars (They handle really well for an economy car) Especially the ex, it has enough power to get out of its own way if you really need to. Don't get me wrong, stock they are definatly not race cars meant to go fast (SI's are a different matter, they were made to be a sports car). If you like cornering, you will be pretty happy with the civic, especially if you put a little money into suspension. But this is all just my opinion.

The best advice I can give you is to drive one and figure out for youself if you like it!

Since its full coverage, I would guess that the value of the camaro is less than the value an integra. That would be the reason for the price differences. If you wrecked the integra, it would cost them more to replace it, than if you wrecked the camaro.

Re: Can't afford GS or GS-R insurance :(

pretty sure ace$niper has it covered. the value of the car is not as important as the likelihood of it being stolen. btw i pay $450 for 6 months liability on my sol (how it is not classified as a sport coupe I still don't understand). 18 in MN.
