1995 JGC won't shift out of park

I have a 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a V8 and automatic transmission. It will not shift out of park. Yes, I have my foot firmly on the brake.

Since it's been a few weeks, I hope you're not still stuck in park. If you are, did you try moving the steering wheel while shifting? Sometimes there's a lock between the ignition, shifter, and steering wheel. Otherwise it might be a bad shifter lock mechanism. Let us know if you still have the problem.

make sure your brake lights work.if they don't or even if they do,unplug the brake light switch(located at top of pedal)and short the two pins
