my friend has a 96 integra ls with a jdm 94 b16a motor with a ls tranny it has a intake and a race header... stock exhaust... has a mugen chip ecu also a vafc 2 street tuned... fuel pressure regulator excedy race cluch with a 8 lb flywheel...

he said on street tires in the 1/8 mile he ran 9.6 all day... between 9.6 and 9.7's.... all day

Re: Does this sound BELIEVABLE?

Do you know the 60' or mph?

9.6's should be good for around a 14.9...I mean if he had a strong motor and the car was gutted I could see those times being somewhat believable.

Re: Does this sound BELIEVABLE?

if 9.6 breaks down to a 14.9, its defintly possible, the best my car got to was 14.6 with the b16 SiRII on a lightened flywheel, clutch, i/h/e, in a 89 HF. Street tires too.

I would assume his 1/8th trap is in the mid-low 60's.

Hey guys, a mid to high 9 sec. run in the 1/8 does = mid to high 14sec. I always heard to add about 5 seconds to an 1/8mile time to guesstamate your 1/4mile time. Obviously by my name, I'm a Mustang guy, and I don't know anything about Hondas, but in a mostly stock 89 Mustang 5.0-Auto notchback my 1/8 mile speed was around 85-90mph. Even though I'm a Ford guy I think it's cool to take whatever you have and make it faster but the 1/8 and 1/4mile times some of you guys are running with mods are ALMOST as fast as a stock 87-93 5.0 and most are still slower. From what I've seen it takes alot more money to make an import as fast as a stock Mustang. Don't get me wrong, like I said before, it's cool to take whatever you have and give it more hp. I just can't see spending all the money and still running in the high 14second range. Although you guys get better gas mileage, and with FWD you can drive in the winter. Hell I'm even trying to hop up my 97 Taurus DOHC 24V (stock 200hp/200tq). QUIT LAUGHING, YEAH I SAID TAURUS, HEY MAN, I SAID QUIT LAUGHING! Although I'm not haveing much luck on finding performance parts for a Taurus. Now, I do know that there are other imports out there like 350Z, Supras, etc...etc...that would probably spank a Mustang...however look at how much they cost compared to the Mustang. I also know that some of you are running 12's,13's, but it takes alot more money in an import than in a Mustang or Z28 or T.A. Not doggin you guys just trying to see your side of the story...I'm tryin to open my mind a little.....and believe me it hurts. THANKS GUYS.....SORRY FOR THE BOOK I WROTE

Re: Does this sound BELIEVABLE?

yeah that sounds about right. its only 1/8th of a mile add 5 seconds to that 9.6 or 9.7 and thats what you would run on a quarter mile. my boyfriend runs about 9.6's also, and he has a 96 gsr. but my cousins boyfriend runs LOW 7's or high 6's but hes turbo and what not. but yeah that sounds just right.

Re: Does this sound BELIEVABLE?

giddyup50--
You also should take a look at the reliability, and a stock mustang's handling cant even compete with a honda. You could start out with a mustang...a faster car, and put money into suspension, and do alot of maintenance, or start out with a perfect handling honda, an already reliable car and make it fast. And as long as you modify correctly, reliablility will still not be an issue.
Its personal preference, is all it is. Personally, if I was to choose between one and another, I would choose the honda/acura.

I see where you're coming from...however, a Mustang is very reliable. The 5.0 is bullet proof, it can take a ton of abuse, and never break or leak. The 4.6 is the same but the bottom end of the 4.6 is even stronger than the 5.0. I've had two 5.0's an 89 and 92. I never went too crazy w/ the mods just bolt-ons...exhaust, pulleys, filter, all the basics. Many of my friends did more than I did and still never had any problems with their 5.0's. One guy I know had an 04 4.6, and the same thing with his, no problems.
I don't know about the handling of the two cars. I know it got better in the Mustangs in 94 w/ better brakes and suspension but the 87-93 Mustangs were smaller and lighter than 94 and up. Not to mention the aftermarket for the Mustang, you have to admit that the Mustang is king of the aftermarket. And because of that, and I've also noticed prices myself for both Mustangs and Hondas, the Mustangs parts cost less. Anyway, I do agree the Honda does have a weight advantage atleast in 94 and up Mustangs.
So I guess it all depends on what you want to do. If you want to buy a fast car w/ decent handling stock, then buy a Mustang. If you want to buy a slow car w/ good handling stock, and spend a ton of $$ just to barely keep up w/ a Stang or Z28, then buy an import.
SORRY ABOUT THAT LAST PARAGRAPH, I HAD TO GIVE YOU GUYS SOME CRAP.
I do agree, It's all about preference!!!
