Lightbulb ABS Light!!!???

I dont know why my brakes work fine, but i never worried about it until now - the light has been on for some time now - I dont know what is wrong with the brakes that the light would be on, does anyone know why or have a conclusion to solving this problem/gettin it to turn off?

Thanks

my ABS light is almost always onbut i noticed sometimes it's off and flickers a bit. I'm not concerned as my breaking is great and god only knows what the previous owner has done to my car as far as mods and wire splicing (i've found quite a few shitty splices and switches that dont do anything under the dash and connectors under the hood) Just check your fluids i guess. if you think your abs is not working... test it on wet roads.

Re: ABS Light!!!???

Mechnically your brakes are find if the ABS light is on as the brake petal is still hydraulically linked to the brake calibers...

The issue is probably that one of the ABS sensors have failed (damn electrical gremlins)... Biggest question is which one which i don't think you can do easily without taking it to a shop to read the code...

The good news is it shouldn't be that expensive to fix (relatively speaking).

Re: ABS Light!!!???

oh ok - ya i was wondering if it was just a sensor - i have acess to a $3k computer for diagnostics an all, so i guess i pay a visit there - also - the braking is amazingly strong i can go from triple digits to almost stopped in a very few seconds i duno must be the massive front an the brakes in the back that are the size of most vehicles front brakes... but ya when i am breaking hard on a gravel road or for say the rain or what have u,, it doesnt seem like the abs is working for the fact that my pedal feels like the same as it does when ur brakes log up it doesnt vibrate at all yet i dont really skid... so its kinda hard to tell that the abs works properly, an when the lights been on for a few years now an it kinda makes me wonder i wouldnt want the brakes failing when i really need them... so i wanna get it squared away you know. well thanks for the input 2old - i see ur a man a great advice - happy to be part of a forum with nice people like you, everyone is great on here - we all click - until we get a hater from another line of cars that hates ours an starts crap on here....
thanks i will hopefully have time this weekend to fidel with that

Re: ABS Light!!!???

The most common reason for ABS lights is the wheel speed sensors, when that light is on the ABS shouldn't function.

I'd suggest just taking your wheels off and looking to see if the wires going into the sensors are intact before you go spending $$.
