Front wipers

Another problem guys

Every once in a while the front wipers needed a helping hand to get them going --- and one day while giving them a nudge via the drivers side wiper, the drivers side only pushed up as if I had stripped something and trust me I wasnt rough at all.

Now the wipers are basically useless as the passenger side works normally and the drivers side kind of just moves when there is no resistance -- causing the passenger side to jump over it if you catch my drift -- have been using rain-x for now as I fear a big repair bill on this one ???

Anyone know of the problem - I know the description is hard to imagine I hope I explained it well enough

Thanks again as always folks

Take the cover off of the bottom part of your wiper, remove the nut, clean the surface and use a liquid metal product, reassemble and make sure that the wipers are lined up correct.

This happened to me as well, and they work fine now, except when they decide not to work at all

There are splines on the motor side. I went down to an autozone and looked at a brand new wiper arm, there are not splines in the wiper arm. Rather than replace the wiper motor, I opted w/ the liquid metal. While my wipers now move together, they don't always move (wiper board problem) unfortunately the recall for the boards is on the '96 and i have a '97. I looked for the board to check the connections, but i can't find where the board is. Anyone have a diagram, or able to describe where it is?

Re: Front wipers

Take the front cover/plate off of the wiper motor.
And unplug the wiring and the board will pull right out.
The boards can be replaced or a lot of times they have a solder joint on them that cracks and can be fixed with a drop of solder. Take it off and look the board over where the prongs go into it and look for a harline crack in the solder joint.

a common problem on this year it seems. two previous threads on this subject both go to the solder joints also.

Well I took it apart and am still shaking my head over that damn friction press fit into a cone design.
To think some egghead is making 100,000 a year designing that crap.

Anyway -- used a bit of JB Weld liquid metal and torqued it down as hard as possible and seems to be ok for now anyway.

I'm sure Murphy will turn his ugly head and I will have to take the damn arm off --- if thats even possible anymore but you have to do what you have to do.

Thanks for the help men - saved me some cash
