Major electrical problem

My son has a 95 talon esi...The last time we started it all the guages went wacky...and it died and wouldnt start. All the warning lights went on and off and the right side cooling fan came on. I messed with the foot feed and could hear the fan speed up as I depressed the foot pedal.
I also noticed that the throttle cable the was attached to the intake was sparking and getting hot. I unhooked the cable and started taking off harness conections to see if I could pinpoint the short. nothing worked. I finally cut a piece of gasket material and placed it under the throttel cable link that was on the intake so it would not ground to the intake. No more sparks but car will not start. It will roll over but not getting any spark. The guage lights will not light up now. I'm at a lost at what to do or where to look.

Re: Major electrical problem

check your fuses, you might have blown one when the throttle cable started sparking

check out the battery, it might be fried. also check ALL the fuses, twice if you have too.

Thanks I finally figured out that is was a bad ground...I took a set of jumper cables and connected them to the neg side of battery then one to the engine and one to the body....everything worked... I just ran a new ground from the battery to the body to solve the problem.
