Takeoff Question

When im taking of really quick my car pulls to the left real bad, i was just wondering if that was just a front wheel drive thing and if there is anything i can do to reduce the pull. I have a 98 3000 SL.

My SL used to do that when it was an automatic. Haven't had that problem since I switched to 5-speed. So if you have an automatic you could switch to 5-speed I guess?

Unless I got lucky and got an LSD'd tranny off Ebay...can I tell by which way the tires spin when its in the air in neutral?

Re: Takeoff Question

If you drop the clutch and both tires light up in smoke then you got a LSD. If you get the one wheel peel you have an open diff.

Re: Takeoff Question

I only get it when the tires ride up on the grooves made in the road.

Re: Takeoff Question

its just from the power going to the front tires. it makes them wanna turn. learn to control it good though. when i first got my stealth i was used to rear wheel drive vehicles and i ran out of my lane several times because of the torque steer, that is until i got used to it.

Re: Takeoff Question

I don't have an LSD, but both wheels will lay rubber... at least for a couple of seconds... then one takes over... I usually leave burn marks... two, but one is just longer... then again... my tranny has been scorched...

Re: Takeoff Question

i've just put my LSD insert in my tranny. when i find time to put the tranny back in the car, i'll definitely take it to the street and light up the tires. i'm confident it will greatly improve traction and handling...especially around corners!
