Re: serpentine belt

Sure, for one of two reasons:

1: the elctrical system can no longer function due to no charge from the alternator, best case.

2: the engine seized from no coolant passing through since the water pump is just sitting htere looking pretty, doing nothing, worst case.

Think about it .... the electrical system would start to draw from the battery and the cooling system will cause an overheating problem leading to seizure but nothing should cause it to "CUT OFF".

I interpreted "CUT OFF" to be an instantaneous action rather than the slow and painful death of killing the battery or seizing the motor.

Re: serpentine belt

You have to keep an open mind of interpretation on anything in any forum, you can never assume a poster knows how to or proceed the same way you would. Makes me think, what they should do is add a profile somewhere for like a 'skill level' rating. That way you know who you're dealing with and how to direct.
