Post okay fellas need some more help!

I need some help fing the EGR valve and silonoid. This is the first time I have had to find it. Ihad someone tell me to check it b/c my pcv valve keeps blowing out when connected also causing high oil pressure. So anyone know where it is, and how to check it? Thanks.

if it is a 2.8, then you'll find it behind the carb/throttle body on the driver's rear side of the manifold, near the distributor.
as far as checking, just reach in under the casing and push up on the diaphragm and see if it gives; if so, it is probably ok.
still, it is only two bolts, and a vacuum line to take out (you do not have an EGR solenoid; the 2.8L only came with the old style vacuum/ mechanical operated ones; however, you DO have an EAC (electric air control valve)solenoid) and clean with mineral spirits, and rap the body to free any carbon debri.
if while out, you actually want to check operation with a vacuum pump; we would have to know year and engine, as there are different vacuums for different EGRs; and if it were a california emissioned vehicle.
I think someone else posted vacuum amounts for EGR operation in the S10 or full size/Silverado threads; search there.

an EGR that loses its spring (weakens in vacuum operation), can weaken the combustion, and rough idle/stumble conditions will generally occur.
an EGR locked open, or burnt out, allowing excessive air flow through it can kill the engine right after cold start and/or warm-up, or surge and run rough during idle and cruising speeds.
no EGR (clogged) can cause high idle/revs and higher coolant temps, higher combustion temps, and engine knock/detonation.

-I have never heard of it blowing the PCV out (is the PCV operating? as it IS a one way valve); and higher oil pressure can be oil weight factor.
it could be EGR related, but it could be the EAC that works with the air injection system of the smog pump.

hope this helps,
chris

Re: okay fellas need some more help!

pcv valve clogged will cause both the high oil pressure and the blow out effect try cleaning the valve with carb cleaner or replacing they are cheap
