Tune UP Time?? or Something Else?

Ok, she is still driving great, just a little bit sluggish lately. Im thinking I need some new plugs and wires since this has'nt been done in about 2 & 1/2 yrs. I drive about 80 Miles per day on the highway, a little more on some days, everyday!

This problem started about 2 weeks ago, and has gotten more notice able since then.
Problem seems to be load related! Car upshifts and downshifts just find to me. But say I am going up a slight hill, she does a little jump/chuggle right at the base of the hill. It only does it on a hill, espescially if im bumping the AC it will do it on slight inclines.. Once she does the little jump its doesnt do it again. This lasts about 3-5 seconds. Last night it was dark, so I noticed that when it did that jump, my RPMS jumped with it. Not a big jump but from 1400 RPM to about 1600RPM then back to original RPM it was at.

If I have the heavy foot up the hill, she shifts fast and smoothly, so im definetly thinking load.

I dont think this is tranny related, but then again it might be. But why would she run just fine with the AC off, or on a smotthe surface?

Is this and ignition problem? or plugs? maybe fuel?
It had a new fuel sock put on last yr, but still original pump, and why would the pump work good at all other times?

Tranny has a new Modulator valve on it, and it seems to be working just fine, It has nice shifts.

I do all my maintance work, just been doing oil/tranny changes and she been working great, but it may be time for a major tune up or something. Please help guys!

Sounds like an ign misfire only in lock up under load, soon as it downshifts, gone? How many miles on the plugs, std non plats are good for 30-50k tops.

Thanks for the help!!
Ohhh 50k tops.... then I know I need them for sure...
Yes and as soon as it downshifts she is GOOOOONE.

I looked this morning and man they were in bad condition. The rubber on 3 of the wires are frayed.. I unplugged and plugged them back in, and even by doing that I can notice a difference. Seems to be more power also.

The first thing Im getting ready to do when I get some ca$h, is change the plugs and wires..

I still got the chuggle after just disconnecting and reconnecting the same wires. But its not even half as intense as it was just yesterday.
The previous mechanic already had duck tape on the same 3 bad wires. So I added my own little tape for the mean time.
Man this should have been changed along time ago, if I only knew about it. But for a car runing on some bad plugs, this thing runs...

Im thinking of:
AC delco: wires & AC delco: plugs (non platinum)

Or do anyone recomend the platinum? will I get better gas mileage?

Fixed!

I put on some new ACDelco spark plugs and wires today. Took about 1 hr or so. Not too bad. The problem was in fact my plug wires and plugs. All six wires were in pretty bad shape. Spark plugs didnt look too bad though.
My problems are now completly gone! No sluggish movement at all, plenty of pwr to spare even with AC on. Transmission shifts smoother than ever before! Not noticeable at all during shifts.
Just thought I would post the update.
