93 Dodge Shadow Stalls Out on Me!!!!!
Hello All,
I seem to be having a problem with my 93 dodge shadow. It's a two door hatchback. It only has about 45000 original miles on it. I bought this car about two months ago. The problem I'm having isn't very complicated. I usually take my car home from college which is about a 90 mile trip. The car runs great for the 90 miles. The only problem is the way back. When I leave to come back to school, my car just keeps stalling out on me. I don't know if the car can't take long distances or it's something simpler. On my way back, the car is usually alright for about 30 miles. Then when driving, it starts kicking violently back and forth like something wrong's with the transmission or shifting. It still runs though. Then, when ever I come to a complete stop along the trip, the car just shuts off on me. I then have to put the car into neutral quickly and start it up again. Once it restarts, I LITERALLY have to put my foot all the way down on the pedal for the car to move. The car makes like a putt putt noise and then zooms off. This happens everytime I come to a stop!!!! I feel that something is wrong with gas getting to the engine or a spark is not hitting somewhere. I think it's something simple because there are no leaks from any part of the car, and this happens when I drive the car relatively long distances. I have tried many resolutions since I know nothing about cars, one being I've tried fuel injection liquid, but no luck. I've taken this car to the dealership to get fixed 3 times, but everytime they tell me that they've made some "adjustments" to it, to no avail though, it keeps screwing up. I don't think they are testing the car in the worst conditions after being driven 90 miles but I don't know. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!!!!!! |

Re: 93 Dodge Shadow Stalls Out on Me!!!!!
check your codes.
Sounds like the Throttle sensor, or distributor wire shorting, or a bad head gasket and warped head. These are the common problems. Slantsixness

Re: 93 Dodge Shadow Stalls Out on Me!!!!!
could be a blocked fuel filter or maybe a bad fuel pump as well.....
i dont see why everyone seems to have these kind of problems, my 93 sdhadow es hatchback. 128 thousand orignal miles original engine and all ive changed is my belts.. my timing belt cuz it shreded itself(common problem) and my radiator cuz i got in an accident and broke a mount on it.. regular oil changed.. regular tune up and my thermostat.... other than that i have no porblems and it runs great. the previous owner had not replaced many things except tune ups and oil changes. i kno this cuz he is my uncle.... soo to me it sounds like it wasnt taken care of too well... if you take care of your engine wether it be the 2.2 2.5na 2.5 turbo or hte 3.0 it should last forever.

its a vacum problem fer sure . Just take a can of carb cleaner and spray around the intake while its running and if you hear a differents in the RPM then you have a leak if not then its eather the map sensor or the PCV valve |
