Question Vent Problem...STRONG smell of coolant!!

It just started yesterday...It has a VERY STRONG smell of coolant. Any ideas what it is and how I can fix it? Also...if it's leaking coolant, will I run out of coolant and my car over-heat?

Re: Vent Problem...STRONG smell of coolant!!

Heater core. You will want to get this fixed asap as it will eventually run you low on coolant as well as soak your carpets in antifreeze. It's a PITA to get to. It's located directly behind the HVAC controls in the dash. You get to it by removing the storage compartment next to the gas pedal and working your way up. While your down there, be sure to check the underside of your carpets to make sure they are dry.

If you need further instructions, get a Haynes manual. It's fairly clearly described there what to do.
