99 Beetle lost its chimes

HELP!! All of a sudden, for no apparent reason, our chimes quit working(eg. Key in ignition, headlights left on, door open, low fuel, etc.) in my gf's 99 New Beetle non-turbo 2.0L. Could it be a fuse? If so, where is it? Can't find one in the fuse box.

my 2000 has done the same thing. I have also lost some of lights inside the car (hatch and drivers door). I have checked all of my fuses and they look good. I have heard that the wiring (at least for my year) is tricky and often goes bad. I don't know what to tell you to do about it, but I want you to know that I feel your pain
