Angry Performance Problems 84 Mustang

I have an 84 mustang, 3.8 purchased new from dealer in 86, had been demo/loner, came with a new car warrenty. The car had been ordered from Ford with the 84 TBird engine/throttle body injection/transmission configuration.
In 1988 it developed performance problems such as varying idle speed (revving up & dropping back to a stall & complete shutdown). It did this most often when the car had warmed up after a 40 mile run into Anchorage, Alaska.
When it encountered it's first stoplight it would either shut itself down completely or rev itself up to the extent that you had to put the transmission into neutral to avoid being pushed into the intersection (did this once at Elmendorf AFB, on ice, in January!!!)
In 86-89 Ford recalled the TBirds with this configuration for ignition/throttle body ignition problems. I do not know the exact nature/remedy that governed this recall. I tried to get my Mustang recalled as well and was told that, even though my car had that exact configuration, it would not be recalled as there had not been enough cars such as mine manufactured to warrent a recall on them!
At some point in the last 8 years, I retired the car. About a year and a half ago, I had the engine, running gears, transmission, rear end, injection system all rebuilt and started driving it again as the body & interior were in great shape.
