2001 malibu turns over w/o starting but the fuel pump is working and the filter is new and will start if you spray starting fluid in the air intake

#1 - stop spraying starting fluid. Might be clogged injectors? How do you know fuel is getting into the intakes? You cannot look in there.

Re: 2001 malibu

Thank for you reply. But I don't think it is cloog injectors because it did it about a month ago and once I got the car off the trailer and was looking for the problem by changeing the filter and looking for a lose wire the car started and ran for a month . Now it has quit again but it did the same thing once I unloaded the car it started now the car still on the trailer and I'm looking for the problem . I know it get fuel pass the filter by loseing the line form the filter.

Re: 2001 malibu

i have the same problem. randomly, it wont restart when parked. all it takes is a ride on the wrecker to make it work fine at the shop. it has fire, and starting fluid makes it crank. [email protected]

Is the "Theft System" light flashing in the dash while this problem is ocurring?

If so, turn the ignition to ON, let sit for 10 minutes, the theft system light will be solid, start engine.
