Balancing Beads

Has anyone ever tried balancing beads in their tires?

Re: Balancing Beads

never heard of them. if they just sit in the tires, wouldnt they not work and just bounce around while the tire spins?

There are a number of websites that discuss how they work. Here are a couple of them:

http://www.wheelweights.com/balancing-beads.htm

http://www.innovativebalancing.com/

I thought I might try them but I wanted to know if anyone else had any experience with them.

BB's, sand, golf balls...they all work. some better than others. My buddy runs 6 golf balls per tire in his 36" bias ply TSL's. It rides as smooth as glass on the highway.

Stay away from "equal"...it clumps up.

Well, I bought some #7 steel shot (.100 Dia and perfectly round) and put 4 oz. in each tire through the valve stem. WOW! talk about smoooooooth. My tires were already balanced and I thought they rode well. With the shot in them, the wheel is much firmer and bumps in the road don't seem to be as rough. I definitely recommend this!!!
