Clunking sound when turning steering wheel
Hi everyone~
I drive a 99 VW Jetta VR6. This morning on the highway, all of a sudden it felt like somthing was wrong with the front left tire. When exiting and turning sharp right, there was a loud, repetitive clunking sound. I had several more turns before pulling into work and this was now happening when turning both left and right. Any ideas? I know next to nothing about engines, so please explain like you would to a ten-year-old. Thanks! Not sure if this has anything to do with it: about 10 days ago, i felt some "grinding" when turning the steering wheel. The next day Ihad my brakes replaced, and haven't felt that again until this morning. |

This sounds like something that happened on my '02 1.8L, but when I took it in for its scheduled maintenance, they were able to get rid of it. Sorry that I don't know what they did or what exactly the problem was.
