Can I replace my starter...?
I have a 2001 Laredo and my starter has gone out. I have ran into problems with other systems within the vehilce because of the vehicles computer running to everything. My question is, can I just replace the starter or does a professional have to do it because of the computer?
And... if I can do it, can I put in a 1.6 KW starter or a 1.4 KW? Of course the 1.6 adds power but is it compatible? Any help would be appreciated. SKeenan |

Re: Can I replace my starter...?
I recently replaced the starter in my '94 Jeep Grand Cherokee, although I'm not familiar with the 2001 model. I'll defer to others who might know more about the 2001 computer questions.
On the '94 it was as easy as ordering from AutoZone (other online places would have it as well), by matching the starter for the year and model (same size & power), and with two bolts and two wires I replaced it rather easily. In addition to what people tell you on this forum, a Haynes book could probably answer questions for the 2001 model. |
