camshaft/crankshaft sensors

Have a 96 GA that's hesitates as I accelarate, doesn't stall. Engine light is on and I took it to Autozone. Came back with 2 codes one for Camshaft position sensor and other for Crankshaft position sensors. Autozone guys said it's rare for both to come back like that but to check the connections on each. I think I know where the crankshaft sensor is, right above the oil filter correct? Where do I locate the camshaft position sensor?

Re: camshaft/crankshaft sensors

If you have a 2.4L then the CPS is just above and behind the oil filter. The cam position sensor is located on the cam just above the throttle body. It is easy to spot and easy to replace. Should only take one bolt to remove. Also make sure that the cps wiring is correct. A friend of mine has a 96 and he had problems with the CEL until he realized that the wires for the cps were on incorrectly. He reversed the wires and the engine ran fine. After that we cleared the code and it has not come back on.
