squeal

I have a 2000 beetle, when I turn steering wheel to the righ i hear a mostly constant squeel! Any input?

Sunnds like a serpintine(sp) belt. Or a power steering pump. I would replace the belt first before the pump. Much less expencive.

I had car checked out today, vw dealer said it is the brake rotors. all 4 need to be replaced. I never had a clue, they said previous owner used aftermarket brake pads which caused this. thanks for your input.

We had to do the same thing awhile back on our 01. The lesson for me is to check the pads every rotation.

I will definately keep an eye on the pads, mechanic says to be sure lug nuts are torqued by hand too, not with an air wrench. Thanks for your reply!
