Question Computer Climate Control on 98 doesnt work

I have a 98 Blazer LT with the computer climate control. Recently the climate control stopped working and nothing comes on. Not the light for the AC, blower fan doesnt spin, vent doors dont open and close, pushing any putton on the climate control does nothing. At night only half the night lights on the climate control comes on. I was planning to get a new climate control but I was wondering if there was possibly another fuse or relay besides the ones in the drivers side engine compartment and drivers side on the dasdoard between the dash and door. I figured at least some power is coming to the climate control because some of the night lights come on. Can any one suggest something to check before replacing the computer climate control.

Re: Computer Climate Control on 98 doesnt work

still no help? is there some way i can check the blower to make sure it is working without cutting the box open so I can at least isolate that as the problem. ichecked all the fuses in the 2 fuse panels but is there another that controls the blower? where would be a good place to get the computer climate control?

Re: Computer Climate Control on 98 doesnt work

1)Does the radio work? If so, one of the fuses is OK
2)I assume you've checked the HVAC Fuse 1, right?
3)Remove the HVAC control unit. Use a volt meter and measure voltage between ground, and terminal C12 with the key in the RUN position. It will be an orange wire. You should see battery voltage there.
4)Use a volt meter and measure voltage between ground, and terminal C6 with the key in the RUN position. It will be a brown wire. You should see battery voltage there.
5)Use a volt meter and measure voltage between terminal C10 and C12. You should see battery voltage there.

Post back with the results or questions.

I remove the hvac and did the tests you suggested and the results were what you said they should be. The C12 was a constant batt voltage while C6 was batt voltage with ignition in run. I also found batt voltage at other wires while in run. I was able to identify the ground wires as well as the 5v line. It definately seems like the ccc module is the problem but I cannot afford the $480 for a new one that cannot be returned if it doesnt work. Is there some way to rig up the wires so I can turn on the fan and start the antifreeze flowing through the heater core (thats all I need) or know where I can get the wiring diagram for the computer climate control. My email is [email protected].

I got the wiring diagram for the entire vehicle, all but there is so much components to the system that one wouldnt work without the other. I will just have to buy the controller from the dealer. Diagram also says that thing above the driver door is some sort of cabin temperature thingamajig (inside air temperature sensor) , for those who think it is something else.

You might consider hitting a local boneyard or www.car-part.com for a used module. Or get the part num from the dealer for the HVAC computer and buy it from www.gmpartsdirect.com.

Re: Computer Climate Control on 98 doesnt work

Dealer wanted to sell it for $380 got it at the junkyard for $50. It is a little different with the knobs but works perfectly. This was out of a Bravada, didnt know they were the same. Now I finally have heat I feel a whole lot better.
